Events around Net Zero tend to be based on a large scale, such as the Government’s 2050 Net Zero goal, however, local goals are just as important for reaching Net Zero. The event will showcase how organisations and people can reach Net Zero with talks based on the theme “What are organisations undertaking to get to Net Zero?” The plenary session for the event will feature Wayne Bexton, the Director of Environment and Sustainability at Nottingham City Council, on the city’s progress and roadmap for their 2028 Net Zero Goal. Talks include “energising communities with active buildings” by Professor Mark Gillott at the University of Nottingham, with further speakers tbc. There will also be a workshop for industry, students, and stakeholders to converse on how different sectors can work towards Net Zero and share ideas. Stalls will be held by Nottingham Friends of the Earth, Extinction Rebellion, Energy Research Accelerator, Clean Air Nottingham and Nottingham Climate Assembly to circulate during breaks and lunch to learn more about what local groups are contributing to the battle to Net Zero.
The event is the first ERA Skills Community funded event, created by Fern Baker at the University of Nottingham.
