Brief Description
Used for measuring the adsorption of refrigerants on adsorbents with controlled temperatures from -20°C to 200°C and pressures up to 100 bar.
Detailed Description
Thermogravimetry is a technique in which the mass of a sample is monitored against time or temperature in a Thermogravimetric analyser (TGA). We have two Thermogravimetic analysers, manufactured by Rubotherm GmbH. Both instruments contain a Magnetic Suspension Balance, which weighs a sample in a closed reactor cell with an external microbalance, through a magnetic suspension coupling that transmits the weight force through the wall of the sample cell. The balances are accurate to 10 μg.
Uses/applications
We regularly investigate the sorption characteristics of carbon-based materials as well as materials containing halide-salts.
Usage requires academic oversight.
