HyDEX facilities at Keele University

HyDEX is a £6 million programme supporting and fostering the creation of a new hydrogen industrial economy in the Midlands.

HyDEX

HyDEX is working with SMEs, established Midlands-based and UK commercial partners, and multinationals to accelerate innovation, build markets and support the required skills transition.

HyDEX is three-year programme with eight university partners all associated with the Energy Research Accelerator (ERA). Each of the ERA partners is making its hydrogen facilities, research capability and expertise available to businesses, helping to accelerate innovation in hydrogen technologies.

Aligned to this, ERA is also working with international partners, helping Midlands businesses to access overseas markets and build links with hydrogen customers and suppliers across the world.

  • Building on the Midlands’ strength and expertise HyDEX is developing a hydrogen economy that is not reliant on imports of technology and services.
  • Creating the skills and expertise needed in the new hydrogen economy.
  • Building links to big overseas markets for hydrogen goods and services.
  • Supporting UK’s work towards achieving net-zero.
